Cake baking

Training in cake baking was yet another successful and influential initiative of the FMMs through SUDAR centre. This is a sustainable project which aims at offering employmentto women bakers at the bakery in the campus of St. Thomas Convent. Through this project, more than 20 women are to be employed to produce confectionary. This initiative is in collaboration with Trainers from Hot Breads, our technical partners. The training programme is held at Winner’s Bakery, Alwarpet, Hot Breads, Adyar, and Writer’s Cafe, Tharamani. Women are rained with a stipend in the respective bakeries for 3 months. The first batch of trained women are appointed in SUDAR Cakes and Bakes, a newly established manufacturing unit at St Thomas Convent, Mylapore which was inaugurated on 03.09.2021 with a blessing and a prayer
