The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) is a multidisciplinary Institute for patient care and academic pursuit in the field of Mental Health and Neuro sciences. It is synonymous with providing high standards of clinical care, quality training and cutting-edge research in the frontier areas. Combined priorities for comprehensive patient care, manpower development and research, stem from the commitment to an integrated and multidisciplinary approach which addresses societal needs. NIMHANS has been providing a training programme for transgenders to help their community to address the psychological issues, since October 2020. Dr. Jeya Kumar and his team from NIMHANS have constructed the training programme completely based on activities, since many of the transgenders who are attending the training programme are illiterate or have completed only middle or high school.

Chitra Institute of Arts and Crafts has been involved in running tailoring coursesfor the past 15 years. Mrs. Chithra Lingeswaran is a tailoring teacher who has been working in the tailoring field for the past 17 years. She is also an examiner for the tailoring examinations conducted by the Government. She has taught more than ten thousand students. And about 2000 of her students have started to earn through this scalable business venture. She has been helping the disabled, single mothers and people under BPL. She helps the SUDAR Project Centre to organise tailoring exams for the trainees on completion of the tailoring course.
Hot Breads is a famous bakery with many outlets in Chennai. Mr. Mahadevan, CEO, Hot Breads extended his support to the SUDAR Project Centre by arranginga six-month training course in cake-baking for women, across their branches in Alwarpet, Tharamani and Adyar.
Jesuit Migrants Service (JMS) is working with the migrants from North and South of India for the past five years. They have identified 2000 migrant families, and standard migrant workers in and around Chennai. They lend a helping hand to the migrants to have a better life in the displaced localities. They have 32 sight schools in Porur, Perungalathur, Gumidipoondi, Ambattur and other industrial areas in Chennai, where they take tuition classes for the underprivileged migrant’s children. They provide migrants with Government assistance and legal Aid, run shelter homes for runaways and provide them medical assistance to ensure good health. The FMM sisters started to work with JMS as volunteers,to provide emergencyhelp to the distressed migrant workers prone to chronic illness and accidents. At present, migrants in Tirupachur are taken care by the FMM sisters. They are facilitatingGovernment funds, tailoring courses and spoken English classes for adolescent migrants.
The Archdiocese of Madras – Mylapore functions in the capital city of Chennai (Madras) in the State of Tamil Nadu. The Archdiocese of Madras Mylapore is one of the oldest dioceses in India. It caters to the needs of the people irrespective of caste and creed. The main goal of the Diocese is to empower the people through providing for their spiritual needs and strengthening their faith in God and for their social needs in improving their socioeconomic status. At present there are about 128 parishes and 350 sub stations in the diocese. There are 75 Middle schools, 145 Higher Secondary Schools and 7 colleges in the jurisdiction of the diocese. Besides these the social organizations under the Madras Social Service Society is taking care of the social needs such as awareness, health, cultural formation etc., towards the holistic development of the people.
